Inspiration and Respiration
This image shows two male torsos seen side-by-side and from a lateral perspective. Arms are made invisible so full view of the abdominal cavity is possible. This first body shows the position of the ribcage during inspiration, when the sternum rises and we see the direction of the ribs become more horizontal. The second body is at a moment of expiration, when the ribcage becomes smaller and the ribs slant downward.
