Alveolar Gas Exchange During Activity
This series of images illustrates the alveoli and a red blood cell during rest, onset of activity, and activity. This is the site where the red blood cells exchange carbon dioxide molecules for oxygen molecules to transport throughout the body. Notice the increase of both molecules as activity increases.
