Peristaltic Movement

This image illustrates the peristaltic movement of the small intestine. Peristaltic movements are responsible for the transportation of chime along the path inside the small intestine, and are created by the circular and longitudinal muscles within the walls of the small intestine, contracting in a wave-like manner.
