Vessel Capillary Crossection
This image shows a close and sectioned view of a capillary, the smallest blood vessels in the human body. Capillaries serve as the junction between arteries and veins, and are characterized by their extremely thin walls, consisting of only a single layer of endothelium cells. Such thin walls function so as to exchange molecules such as oxygen, water and carbon dioxide can diffuse between tissues and blood.
