West Nile Virus Section View
The West Nile Virus (WNV), first diagnosed in human carriers as early as the 1930.s, wasn.t detected in the Western Hemisphere until 1999 and has since rapidly spread across the North America and surrounding regions. While its affects aren.t as deleterious as some viral strains, it is still of concern, especially to those with weaker immune systems.
These images of the West Nile Virus wonderfully show what electron microscope studies have found, with the virus. characteristic rough and furrowed surface with no protein arms projecting from it, as so many viruses have. Rendered with the highest resolution, these images are both true to form and visually stimulating.
