Mast Cells (mastocyte)
This image illustrates the Mast cell. A mast cell (or mastocyte) contains many granules within its walls and resides in connective tissue. Although best known for their role in allergy reactions, mast cells also aide in the healing of wounds and defense against invading pathogens. Our illustration shows the mast cells as ovoid, with a non-segmented nucleus and round or oval granules.
